The Diploma of Beauty Therapy (SHB50115) at the Australian National College of Beauty is your ticket to a successful career in an exciting and expanding industry. This course covers the skills needed to work as a skilled beauty therapist and delivers competent graduates in facial massage, body massage, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail technology services, make-up, aromatherapy, providing advice on beauty treatments and services, selling retail skin care and cosmetic products and coordinating a work team.

Students will be taught how to keep on top of industry trends and how to run their own business. They will have access to The Think Wellbeing Centre where they will practice on real clients to give them the confidence they need for the real world. Students will also learn how to interpret and use information about nutrition and diet to better understand effects on skin.

Career prospects include beauty therapist, massage therapist, make-up artist, skin specialist and salon manager. But more than that, the Diploma of Beauty Therapy could take you around the world when combined with CIDESCO beauty course accreditation. There are hotels, spas, resorts and clinics in some of the most beautiful and exotic places... and your skills will be recognised there.

Part-time: 24 months (72 weeks excluding breaks)

Direct entry. No academic entry criteria.

Additional Entry Requirements for DOMESTIC STUDENTS SEEKING VET FEE HELP LOAN

  • A completed Australian secondary education qualification or equivalent; OR
  • Undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) testing and demonstrate competency at exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy.

For international applicants equivalent IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no skills band less than 5.0

Additional requirements:

  • It is compulsory that all on-campus students have access to a computer with internet access as well as access to video recording facilities

Note that students who are under the age of 18 at course commencement will require an interview to assess their suitability for the course and entry will be at the discretion of the Head of Academic Studies.

Course study requirements

Full-Time (On-Campus or Online):
52 weeks total, 36 teaching weeks, approximately 29 hours per week contact hours with approximately 6 hours per week self-directed study. Total contact hours for the course are 1044 hours.

Part-Time (On-Campus or Online):
104 weeks total, which consists of 72 teaching weeks. Total contact hours for the course are 1044 hours. Approximately 6 hours per week self-directed study.
