Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements for domestic students seeking a VET Student Loan:

  • A completed Australian secondary education qualification or equivalent; OR
  • Undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) testing and demonstrate competency at exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy.

Note that students who are under the age of 18 at course commencement will require an interview to assess their suitability for the course and entry will be at the discretion of the Program Director.

International Applicants:

Equivalent IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no skills band less than 5.0.

Additional Requirements

All students will be required to attend on-campus Orientation Week at the commencement of the course and as an on-line student, attend practical training and assessment workshops throughout your studies. The student must be available to travel to Sydney or Brisbane during these periods. A detailed timetable for the onsite study periods will be provided. Course study requirements

Full-Time (On-Campus or Online):

52 weeks in total, 36 teaching weeks.

Total contact hours for the course are 1044 hours.

Part-Time (On-Campus or Online):

104 weeks total, which consists of 72 teaching weeks. Total contact hours for the course are 1044 hours.

As a guide, each subject will involve 6 -7 hours (average) per week of directed learning contact and 1-2 hours of self- directed study. Therefore, if you were to enrol in 4 subjects for a trimester, you could expect to be undertaking approximately 24 – 28 hours of directed study and 4 – 8 hours of self-directed study per week.

These hours include facilitated on-line learning tutorials and discussion groups for on-line students.

Industry placement for client practice work guided by the college

Typically, you will have between two and four assessments for each Unit of Competency.
